Which free betting prediction sites are good enough to skip the paid ones?

Everything below is listed as free, meaning the useful part costs nothing. That’s the filter for the best free betting prediction sites. These sites suit bettors who want a second opinion or some numbers before a bet, and who’d rather not subscribe to anything.

It covers a lot of ground. For football there’s Forebet, PredictZ, WinDrawWin, FootyStats, FBref and Understat. For US sports, Pickswise, Covers, Action Network and the big reference sites such as Basketball Reference, Pro Football Reference and FanGraphs. Tennis, horse racing, cricket, esports, darts, snooker and cycling all have free specialists too. For football alone, the football betting hub is a shorter read.

“Free” usually means paid for by ads, and often by bookmaker commission. Some of these sites also sell a membership for deeper data. I’ve listed a site as free when the unpaid part is useful by itself.

Every mark follows the review methodology. Scores use five criteria today: transparency, coverage, ease of use, price and support. Accuracy joins once pick tracking is running. For sites that publish no picks it never will. What you see is a first-pass mark from public information. Reviews come later, and scores can change when they do.

Whatever a site predicts, turn it into a price check before you bet. The odds converter shows what chance the bookmaker’s odds imply, and the value betting guide explains why that comparison is the whole game. The full sports prediction sites list includes the paid ones.

Free picks still lose. Bet small, and only what you can afford to lose. 18+.

Free betting prediction sites: common questions

  • Are free betting prediction sites reliable?

Some are as good as anything you can pay for, and some are filler written to sell bookmaker sign-ups. The reliable ones explain their method, cover their misses and don't shout about win rates. On this list, sites that are open about how they make predictions score higher than sites that just post a pick.

  • How do free prediction sites make money?

Mostly adverts and bookmaker commission. Many free tips sites are paid when you click through and open a betting account, which is why every pick sits next to a bookmaker button. The picks can still be fine. Just don't let the site choose your bookmaker for you.

  • What is the best free football prediction site?

On this list Forebet scores highest among football prediction sites. It gives every match a probability from a maths model and covers a wide range of leagues, though the layout is dated. PredictZ and WinDrawWin are quicker to scan. For raw stats, FBref and Understat are free and excellent.

  • Do I need to register to use these sites?

For most of them, no. You can read predictions and stats without an account. A few ask for an email to save favourites or unlock extra pages. If a free tips site demands card details or asks you to deposit with a bookmaker before showing picks, close the tab.

  • Are there free prediction sites for sports other than football?

Plenty. Pickswise and Covers publish free picks for US sports. Tennis Abstract and TennisExplorer cover tennis, HLTV and VLR.gg cover esports, and Racing Post and At The Races have free racing cards and tips. Reference sites such as Basketball Reference and FanGraphs give you the data for free.

  • Should I ever pay for predictions?

Only when a paid product gives you something specific you'll use, such as deeper data for one sport, and only after the free version has proved useful. Paying doesn't make a prediction more likely to win. For most casual bettors, free sites plus a little of your own thinking is enough.
