This page covers the best-known legal sportsbooks in the US. It describes them and sells nothing. You won’t find promo codes or sign-up offers on this page, and there are no affiliate links. I earn nothing if you open an account.
It’s written for adults in the US who’ve decided to bet and want to know what the legal options are. The first thing to understand is that there’s no national licence. Sports betting is approved state by state, and each state has its own regulator, such as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement or the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. A sportsbook that’s legal in one state may not operate in the next, so every name here comes with the question: is it live where you are?
On the list today: DraftKings and FanDuel, the two biggest, plus BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, Fanatics Sportsbook, BetRivers, Hard Rock Bet, theScore Bet and bet365. The rows say what each does well and what doesn’t impress me. State availability isn’t shown on the rows yet because I’m still verifying it by hand, so check the sportsbook’s own site and your state regulator before you sign up.
Accuracy isn’t part of a sportsbook’s score, because a sportsbook publishes no picks. You can check how I score on the methodology page. The marks are provisional. No hands-on review stands behind them yet.
US books show American odds, the ones with plus and minus signs. The odds converter turns them into decimals and percentages, and what is a parlay explains the bet every app will try to sell you. For US-focused line shopping, see the odds comparison sites. Other countries are on the main bookmakers list.
