Below are the best-known betting sites in the UK. A bookmaker needs a UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence to take bets from Great Britain, so licensing is the first thing each row covers. None of them is promoted. There are no offers on this page, no promo deals and no affiliate links. I earn nothing if you open an account.
It’s meant for adults in the UK who’ve already decided to bet and want a plain description of what’s out there. You’ll find the big general bookmakers, such as bet365, Sky Bet, William Hill, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral and Betfred, along with BetVictor, Unibet, 888sport, Betway and BoyleSports. The four betting exchanges, Betfair, Smarkets, Matchbook and Betdaq, are here too. Each row says what the bookmaker does well and what’s annoying about it, which in the UK often means stake limits for customers who win.
Licensing first. The UKGC is the regulator for Great Britain, and its public register lets you check any operator in a minute. The licence details on these rows are still being verified by hand, and a row with no licence shown is one I haven’t confirmed yet. Do that check yourself before you deposit.
Since a bookmaker doesn’t predict anything, accuracy is left out of its score. Scoring follows the methodology. These are early marks based on what each product says publicly, and they’ll be revisited when proper reviews are done.
UK prices are usually shown as fractions. If 11/4 means nothing to you, how betting odds work sorts that out, and the glossary explains what an accumulator is. For other countries, go back to the main bookmakers list.
You must be 18 or over to bet in the UK. Most bettors lose over time. If it’s stopped being fun, the responsible gambling page lists GamCare, the National Gambling Helpline and other free help.
